The CILTA-Vic Passenger Transport Group

The PTG mission is to encourage and support better understanding and knowledge of passenger transport operations. This is achieved primarily by visiting operations, and from lectures and discussions with operations managers and other experienced passenger transport professionals. The focus is on operations and management of all forms of passenger transport. Membership of the Group and participation in activities is open to the general public as well as to members of CILT and other professional and industry bodies with an interest in passenger transport. Partners are also welcome.

The core type of activity is to visit an innovative or interesting operation or passenger transport activity, inspect it, meet the people who make it happen, and learn from them.

Recent activities have involved: an evening manufacturing facility tour and executive presentation; a weekend rail and coach trip to central Victoria covering many local and heritage passenger transport and tourism projects and activities; a joint meeting with Bus& Coach Society of Victoria with a guest speaker; a 13 day interstate tour of passenger transport (metro, tourist and heritage) services and group social activities; a late afternoon visit to a toll-road traffic control centre; a day coach tour of multi-modal transport facilities and services in Geelong; a Sunday afternoon river cruise, a Saturday charter coach/boat tour of Phillip Island, an afternoon inspection of Silver Top Taxi control centre.

Future Activities in 2007 will include:

Sunday afternoon, 30 September, Hawthorn Tramway Museum , an informative presentation and guided tour by the Friends of Hawthorn Tramways Depot ( Timing of this visit is subject to final confirmation)
